This was the first time SNW was hosted at this venue, but it appears as though the people running the SNW event, are not very good at logistics, or perhaps the venue did not provide much support. The location of the stages was pretty bad, and traveling between them was a pain. They had the VIP "lounge" entrance bottlenecked down to just 3 lanes. Going from one side of the main stage to the other, you had to climb stairs that were also overcrowded. The VIP viewing areas were off to the side of the stage. Cheaper tickets had a better view. There were next to no seating options for VIP to take a rest. The few seats there were, were always occupied every time i walked passed them. I had to find the general "Garage" area to lay down and rest from the extreme heat. Which brings me to my next point, there was next to no dedicated shaded areas and the ones that were, were also so crowded and occupied, some people were just screwed. 90,000 people attended this concert. The shaded and seating areas probably accomodated 1,000 people at most. The side stages (spiral and diablo) had audio issues. I don't care how popular a band is, every stage should have the same treatment to audio, so the listeners can enjoy a concert they spend 400 to 1,800 dollars on. Sound issues are unacceptable at a concert. The audio is the whole point. They had staff handing out water bottles at some of the stages. I managed to get one of them. That to me, should be bare minimum care for attendees, not considered a "bonus". To get ice cooled water, you had to pay for it. The VIP toilet stalls ran out of toilet paper and were not restocked. The only thing that i considered great about this concert "festival" was the large screens on the sides of the stages that were of good pixel density. I would not attend this festival again, if the logistics remain this bad. There was nearly no grass to sit on, it was either concrete, asphalt, rocks, or a mixture of dead grass and rocks. My feet were absolutely killing me. I had on a brand new pair of Puma shoes, that felt really great to walk in, but standing on hard surfaces all day from 10am to 12pm, was brutal. I would like a partial refund for the audio issues alone.
Answer in the comments, or make your own post. Photos from the crowd are welcome, and so is anything useful for people still walking in, like where the water line is short. Blue and Gold sit side by side and take turns all day. From 5pm it's Knocked Loose 5:00 (Gold), Marilyn Manson 6:05 (Blue), Evanescence 7:10 (Gold), Slayer 8:20 (Blue), Deftones 9:20 (Gold), then System of a Down at 10:35 (Blue). Pace yourself. If your phone is dying, ChargeFuze rents chargers east of Diablo and west of Spiral. The official map marks water and shade. Set time changes go here too, so everyone else sees them.

OneRepublic released their fourth studio album, Oh My My, ten years ago today on October 7, 2016 on Interscope Records. Following their 2013 record Native, the release pushed the group into fresh territory before they followed it years later with Human in 2021 and Artificial Paradise in 2024. Across a discography that started with Dreaming Out Loud and Waking Up, it holds a distinct place. Where does Oh My My sit in the OneRepublic discography for you today?
In 1968, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham crammed into a tiny basement room on Gerrard Street in London. Page was just trying to salvage the remains of the Yardbirds. They ripped through "Train Kept A-Rollin'" and, according to Page, immediately realized it was a life-changing musical communion. Within weeks, they were touring Scandinavia. Within months, they were recording the debut album that changed rock forever. The official "Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin" photo book has actual shots of these earliest gigs, showing them sweating it out in small clubs before they became stadium gods. What other band had a first rehearsal or early gig where they instantly knew they had lightning in a bottle? Drop the stories below.

Before getting hired by Circus magazine, Mark Weiss was just a high school kid stuffing a camera under a baggy sweatshirt and paying the Madison Square Garden door guy three bucks to sneak in. He was literally selling 8x10s out of his locker before landing a gig shooting Van Halen at the Asbury Park Convention Hall on August 11, 1979. He eventually became their go-to guy. By the 1982 Hide Your Sheep tour in Chicago, David Lee Roth was calling Weiss's hotel room to demand he come take photos of him climbing a tree to rescue a stuck kite. It makes you wonder how much incredible, unauthorized rock history is still sitting in some guy's attic because he snuck a camera into a legendary gig. Who are the modern-day rogue photographers doing this right now at your local venues? Drop their names, I want to dig through their archives.
