Story of Versus Me
Emerging from Janesville, Wisconsin, in 2014, Versus Me quickly established themselves as a formidable force in the American metalcore scene. Their trajectory began with an immediate impact: the band`s debut single, "(A)Tension," dropped in 2015, instantly garnering significant attention with a powerhouse guest vocal appearance from Craig Mabbitt of the renowned Escape the Fate, setting an ambitious tone for their future.
The roots of Versus Me run deep within the heavy music landscape, signifying a convergence of seasoned talent. The core of the band is built around the Milbrandt brothers, James and Lee, who previously lent their guitar and bass prowess, respectively, to the Wisconsin-based metalcore outfit Serianna. Complementing this foundation are current members Dustin Hansen on guitar, an alumnus of Isles of Aura, and J.J. Johnson on drums, formerly with Call Upon the Sovereign. This formidable lineup brought a wealth of experience and diverse influences to Versus Me`s sound.
The bands early configuration also featured notable names, further underscoring their pedigree. Patrick Thompson, a co-founding guitarist for the influential post-hardcore band Alesana (officially formed in North Carolina), brought his distinctive style to the guitar and vocal duties from 2014 to 2017. Clint Greendeer, who previously honed his craft with Wisconsins Guardians, also served on guitar from 2014 to 2017. Rounding out the initial rhythm section was Dustin Helgestad, a former member of Crossing The Delaware (another Wisconsin-based act), on drums from 2014 to 2016. The current enduring lineup solidified with James Milbrandt on vocals (2014-present), Lee Milbrandt on bass guitar (2014-present), Dustin Hansen on guitar (2017-present), and J.J. Johnson on drums (2017-present).
Versus Me`s discography reflects a consistent drive and evolving sound, making them a fixture for fans seeking dynamic metalcore.
