2004-2005

Formation and Early Lineup of In This Moment

In 2004, singer Maria Brink and guitarist Chris Howorth met during an audition and formed the band initially named Dying Star along with drummer Jeff Fabb. After a brief hiatus when Howorth left and then returned, the band rebranded as In This Moment by 2005. The lineup solidified with the addition of guitarist Blake Bunzel and bassist Josh Newell. This early period was marked by MySpace demos and internet marketing, building their initial fanbase.

2005

Lineup Changes and Signing with Century Media Records

Late in 2005, bassist Josh Newell left to focus on music production and was briefly replaced by producer Pascual Romero before Jesse Landry became the permanent bassist. The band attracted the attention of Rob 'Blasko' Nicholson, bassist for Ozzy Osbourne, who became their manager. Their growing fanbase and do-it-yourself touring led to a worldwide recording contract with Century Media Records, marking a critical step towards their professional breakthrough.

2007

Debut Album Release: Beautiful Tragedy

In This Moment released their debut album Beautiful Tragedy on March 20, 2007. Produced by Eric Rachel, the album showcased a sound combining metalcore and alternative metal influences. Singles like 'Prayers' and the title track 'Beautiful Tragedy' helped establish the band’s presence in the rock scene. This release was their official entry into the industry and laid the foundation for future success.

2008

Release of The Dream and Chart Debut

Following their debut, In This Moment released their second album titled The Dream in 2008. The album debuted at number 73 on the Billboard 200 chart, representing their first notable commercial success. 2009-2010

Lineup Changes and Third Album: A Star-Crossed Wasteland

In 2009, bassist Jesse Landry was replaced by Kyle Konkiel, who was in turn replaced by Travis Johnson in 2010. This year also saw the release of their third album, A Star-Crossed Wasteland, continuing their evolving sound and gaining further momentum in the rock and metal community.

2011

Departure of Founding Members and Fresh Lineup

In August 2012, In This Moment released their fourth album Blood, which debuted at number 15 on the Billboard 200. Drummer Change: Tom Hane Replaced by Kent Diimmel

In March 2016, drummer Tom Hane left In This Moment and was replaced by Kent Diimmel, previously of 3 By Design. This personnel update maintained the group's performance quality and contributed to their ongoing touring and recording activities.

2017

Release of Ritual and Continued Success

The band's sixth studio album, Ritual, was released in the summer of 2017 and debuted at number 23 on the Billboard 200. 2020

Mother Album Released Amidst Modern Rock Landscape

On March 27, 2020, In This Moment released their seventh studio album, Mother.
