Band Timeline

2019

Formation and Debut EP Release

Sanguisugabogg was formed in Columbus, Ohio in 2019 by guitarist Cameron Boggs. The band, known for their brutal and raw death metal sound, quickly released their debut EP, Pornographic Seizures, on July 26, 2019, through Maggot Stomp. This initial release established their presence in the underground death metal scene. The band’s name is a creative fusion referencing Boggs' last name combined with Latin and British slang terms, reflecting their dark and irreverent style.
2020

Early Lineup Change and Touring

In early 2020, bassist Steph Barnes left Sanguisugabogg, marking the first lineup change in the band's short history. This period also saw the band embark on several tours to build their audience, including a short U.S. tour with Creeping Death in January. They also conducted their own headlining tour with supporting acts like Undeath, Vomit Forth, and Graveview joining select dates. These tours helped to solidify their reputation for energetic live performances and broaden their fanbase.
2021

Release of Debut Album 'Tortured Whole' and Further Developments

On March 26, 2021, Sanguisugabogg released their first full-length album, Tortured Whole, via Century Media Records. Prior to the release, the band promoted the album with singles like "Menstrual Envy," "Dead as Shit," "Dick Filet," and "Gored in the Chest." The album received attention for its raw, primitive death metal with heavy, swampy riffs and a brutal sound that was both fun and aggressive. After the album release, founding guitarist Cameron Boggs departed, and the band continued to tour despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. They co-headlined the "Frozen Whole" U.S. tour later that year, further expanding their reach in the death metal community.
2022

Intensive Touring and Supporting Major Acts

In 2022, Sanguisugabogg stepped up their touring presence by supporting well-known bands such as Terror on their Pain into Power U.S. release tour along with Kublai Khan and Pain of Truth. They also toured with Cannibal Corpse and 200 Stab Wounds in June, gaining exposure to larger death metal audiences. August saw them leading a U.S. tour with various support acts, and they closed the year with a European tour supporting Full of Hell in November. These extensive tours helped the band cement their status as a rising force in the death metal scene globally.
2023

Release of Sophomore Album 'Homicidal Ecstasy'

Sanguisugabogg released their second studio album, Homicidal Ecstasy, on February 3, 2023, through Century Media Records. This album followed up on the brutal foundations of their debut with continued high-energy performances and aggressive death metal compositions. This release solidified the band's growing influence and demonstrated their ability to produce consistent, intense music that resonates well within the metal community and fans of the genre.
2024

New Music, Tours, and Social Media Challenge

In 2024, the band released a standalone single "Permanently Fucked" on June 4, marking their first new music since the previous album. They supported Suffocation on a European tour and co-headlined a U.S. tour with Jesus Piece, showcasing their continued active presence in live shows. However, the year also brought challenges when their Instagram account was suspended in November without clear explanation, impacting their ability to communicate with fans. Despite this, the band planned new music releases and tours for the upcoming year, illustrating their resilience and commitment to their craft.
2025

Upcoming Third Album and Festival Appearances

In early 2025, Sanguisugabogg announced they were working on new music set for release later in the year, accompanied by a spring headlining tour featuring support from 200 Stab Wounds, Gridiron, and Mutilatred. Story of Sanguisugabogg

Sanguisugabogg, the Columbus, Ohio death metal behemoth, erupted onto the scene in 2019, the brainchild of guitarist Cameron Boggs. The band's name—a gruesome blend of the Latin word for "leech" and British slang for "toilet"—is as fittingly visceral as their music. Since their inception, they've unleashed a demo, Pornographic Seizures with Maggot Stomp, a live album, and two studio LPs, leaving a trail of sonic carnage in their wake.

Currently, the lineup features vocalist Devin Swank, drummer/percussionist Cody Davidson, and the dual-threat guitar/bass players Cedrik Davis and Drew Arnold. Their early years (2019-2021) saw the band quickly gain momentum. Following the departure of original bassist Steph Barnes in 2020, Sanguisugabogg toured relentlessly, sharing the stage with Creeping Death and headlining their own US tour supported by Undeath, Vomit Forth, and Graveview (on select dates). The band solidified their position in the death metal underground with the release of their debut full-length, Tortured Whole, via Century Media Records in March 2021, preceded by the single "Menstrual Envy." Their rise is a testament to their raw power and uncompromising brutality.
