2018

Formation of Hot Milk in Manchester

Hot Milk was founded in Manchester, England, in 2018 by singer/guitarists Hannah "Han" Mee and Jim Shaw. Both were previously involved in various local bands and the Manchester music scene. The duo met via Tinder and started writing music together while coping with personal loss. They composed their first song, "Take Your Jacket," in January 2018. After writing several songs, they secured management and recruited bassist Tom Paton and drummer Harry Deller from the local scene. The band name Hot Milk was chosen for its short, catchy, and somewhat oxymoronic character.
2019

Release of debut EP Are You Feeling Alive? and breakthrough

In 2019, Hot Milk released their first single "Awful Ever After" in January and followed it with "Take Your Jacket" in March, both receiving radio play on BBC Radio 1 and Kerrang! Radio. They debuted live in February, opening for You Me at Six on their European tour. The band rapidly gained traction, securing support slots with notable acts such as Deaf Havana, Papa Roach, Enter Shikari, and Foo Fighters. They appeared at several major festivals, including Reading and Leeds, Download Festival, and Slam Dunk Festival. On May 3, 2019, they self-released their debut EP "Are You Feeling Alive?", recorded with notable producer Phil Gornell. The EP drew positive reviews, establishing Hot Milk as an exciting new presence in the pop-punk and rock scene.
2019-2021

Releases and signing to Music For Nations

In late 2019, Hot Milk released the single "Candy Coated Lies," later remixed by Mark Hoppus of Blink-182. Throughout 2020, the band released multiple singles including "June Gloom," "Glass Spiders," and "California's Burning," further developing their sound blending rock with pop and political lyric themes. The band gained increasing recognition and, by 2021, signed with the British independent label Music For Nations, marking a significant step in their professional career and broader industry acceptance. With this new partnership, Hot Milk amplified their reach and prepared for further releases and tours.
2023

Debut studio album A Call to the Void released

On August 25, 2023, Hot Milk released their debut studio album titled "A Call to the Void". This marked a milestone for the band, consolidating their growing presence in the UK rock scene and internationally. Their sound is noted for blending genres and addressing social and political issues in their lyrics. The album's release followed extensive touring and support slots with major bands such as Foo Fighters and You Me at Six, and appearances at prestigious festivals including Download Festival and Lollapalooza.
