The Word Alive

The Word Alive stands as an influential American metalcore band, originally forged in the vibrant Phoenix, Arizona music scene in 2008. For over a decade, the band cultivated a significant following under Fearless Records. In a strategic label shift, 2022 marked a new chapter as they joined the innovative roster of Thriller Records. The band`s current dynamic lineup features the powerful vocals of Tyler Smith, the shredding guitar work of Jose DelRio and Logan Abernethy, and the driving rhythms of drummer Devin Attard.

Their early promise was undeniably evident with the release of their second EP, Empire, which exploded onto the scene in 2009. This breakout effort garnered widespread positive acclaim and impressively climbed to No. 15 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart, solidifying The Word Alive`s status as a formidable force in metalcore. Building on this momentum, the group entered the studio in 2010 to craft their highly anticipated debut full-length, Deceiver, which was unleashed to a hungry fanbase on August 31, 2010. === Formation (2008–2009) === The genesis of The Word Alive began in 2008, spearheaded by visionary frontman Craig Mabbitt (lead vocals). He was joined by the formidable guitar duo of Zack Hansen and Tony Pizzuti, both of whom brought valuable experience from their prior projects, Clouds Take Shape and Calling of Syrens, contributing to the band`s potent and aggressive early sound.
