History
Formation, The Early Years & Basement Beginnings (2005–2006)
The genesis of The Wonder Years can be traced back to 2005, emerging from the remnants of a prior Lansdale, Pennsylvania outfit known as The Premier. This earlier band served as a creative incubator, featuring future Wonder Years mainstays Dan "Soupy" Campbell, Matt Brasch, and Nick Steinborn, alongside Matt Wells, Dave Hughes, and CJ Morgan.
The official launch of The Wonder Years occurred in a legendary basement practice session at Mike Kennedys home on July 5, 2005. It was in this humble, formative space that the bands very first track, the famously titled "Buzz Aldrin: The Poster Boy for Second Place," was conceived, setting the stage for their future lyrical wit and thematic depth.
During their crucial initial two years, the band immersed themselves in the DIY ethos of the local scene, releasing two collaborative split EPs with fellow Pennsylvania bands. Their debut split, a joint effort with Emergency and I, arrived in 2005. This early release notably featured two tracks that would later be re-recorded and gain wider recognition on their electrifying first full-length album, Get Stoked on It!
