Story of Mammoth

Mammoth: Forging a New Legacy in American Rock

Mammoth, the formidable American rock outfit, is the brainchild and driving force of Wolfgang Van Halen. Though known as Mammoth WVH until its rebranding in 2025, the band`s moniker pays powerful homage to Van Halen, the iconic group where Wolfgang himself contributed his talents from 2007 until their disbandment. During this period, he shared the stage with his legendary father, Eddie Van Halen, and his esteemed uncle, Alex Van Halen.

Initially conceived as a solo endeavor during Wolfgangs tenure with Van Halen, the project fully blossomed into his primary band after the tragic passing of Eddie Van Halen in 2020 led to the end of the legendary group. Wolfgang seized the reins, pouring his multi-instrumental prowess and profound musical vision into Mammoth. To date, the band has unleashed three critically acclaimed studio albums: their self-titled debut, **_Mammoth WVH_** (2021), the impactful follow-up **_Mammoth II_** (2023), and the anticipated **_The End_** (2025). These releases showcase Mammoths dynamic blend of hard rock, alternative rock, and melodic sensibilities, firmly establishing Wolfgang as a compelling new voice in modern rock.

== History ==

=== Formation and Development ===

Wolfgang Van Halens prodigious musical talents manifested at an exceptionally young age. In a prophetic moment in 2006, when "Wolf" was just 15, his father, the incomparable **Eddie Van Halen**, proudly declared on **The Howard Stern Show** that his son possessed unparalleled musical aptitude. Eddies words, charged with both paternal pride and rock-and-roll foresight, resonated deeply: "Wait til you hear this kid play bass, guitar and drums. He can do anything I do on guitar... the name Van Halen, the family legacy is gonna go on way after Im gone `cause this kid is just a natural." This statement cemented expectations for Wolfgang as a true rock prodigy destined to continue a monumental musical lineage.

In 2013, Wolfgang further honed his skills by officially joining Tremonti, the esteemed solo project of Mark Tremonti, the celebrated lead guitarist and songwriter for Alter Bridge and Creed. Stepping in for original bassist Brian Marshall (also of Alter Bridge), Wolfgang contributed his formidable bass work to Tremonti`s 2015 studio album, Cauterize, and its powerful 2016 follow-up, Dust, showcasing his versatility and command of the instrument within the heavy metal and hard rock genres.

The seeds of Mammoth were formally sown in February 2015 when Eddie Van Halen publicly announced that Wolfgang was embarking on a solo album project. What would become Mammoth began its intensive recording sessions at the hallowed 5150 Studios, a creative sanctuary deeply ingrained in the Van Halen legacy. This foundational work spanned an impressive two years, concluding in 2017, laying the groundwork for the groundbreaking music that would soon captivate rock enthusiasts worldwide.
