In Her Own Words

Formed in 2010 in Los Angeles, California, In Her Own Words has carved out a dedicated following within the alternative music landscape by skillfully bridging the gap between high-energy pop punk, gritty post-hardcore, and introspective emo. Emerging during a vibrant resurgence of the scene, the band quickly set themselves apart through punchy guitar riffs, soaring vocal hooks, and unflinchingly honest lyricism. Over more than a decade of creative evolution and steady touring, they have grown from underground contenders into a recognized staple of modern emotional rock.

The group laid the groundwork for their career with their 2013 release, Everything I Used to Trust, before making a significant critical breakthrough with 2016s Unfamiliar. They further honed their melodic sensibilities and expanded their sonic palette on 2019s Steady Glow, followed by the emotionally mature and dynamic Distance or Decay in 2022. Continuing their sustained momentum, the band demonstrated their enduring creative vitality with the late 2024 arrival of Left in the Dark, showcasing a group comfortable with both heavy, rhythmic aggression and radio-ready, polished anthems.

Musically, In Her Own Words balances the urgency and catharsis of turn-of-the-century emo with crisp, contemporary production, defined by vulnerable narratives of heartbreak, personal growth, and resilience. This distinct blend of raw sentimentality and driving musicianship has allowed them to cultivate a loyal, worldwide audience of tens of thousands of dedicated followers. Remaining true to their DIY roots while consistently sharpening their sound, In Her Own Words stands as a prime example of pop punk`s enduring emotional depth and modern versatility.
