Formation of Descartes a Kant

Descartes a Kant was formed in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, by composer Sandrushka Petrova as a teenager in the early 2000s. Originally an all-female band, they started by performing at local parties. The band took its name from a philosophy book chapter titled "From Descartes to Kant," reflecting the contrasts in their musical style during their early phase. Their music was self-described as a "bipolar-schizoid sound," combining sweet melodic tones with dissonant and strident noises. Their style was a unique blend of noise rock, punk, surf, electronic music, new wave, and jazz, complemented by theatrical live performances with distinctive outfits.

2007

Release of Debut Album Paper Dolls

After spending several years developing their sound and undergoing lineup changes, Descartes a Kant released their first album, "Paper Dolls," in 2007. The album was put out through the independent Mexican label Discos Intolerancia.
