Story of Northlane
Hailing from Blacktown, Australia, Northlane emerged in 2009 as a metalcore powerhouse. The current lineup features Jon Deiley and Josh Smith on guitars, Nic Pettersen on drums, and vocalist Marcus Bridge. This formidable quartet has crafted a formidable discography, releasing six studio albums: Discoveries (2011), Singularity (2013) – which peaked at #3 on the ARIA Albums Chart – the chart-topping Node (2015), Mesmer (2017), Alien (2019), and Obsidian (2022). Their dominance in the Australian metal scene is undeniable, evidenced by their three ARIA Music Awards for Best Hard Rock or Heavy Metal Album, won for Node (2015), Mesmer (2017), and Alien (2019).
Early Years and Lineup Changes:
Initially formed in 2009, Northlanes original lineup included Jon Deiley (lead guitar), Brendan Derby (drums/percussion), Adrian Fitipaldes (lead vocals), Alex Milovic (bass), and Josh Smith (rhythm guitar). The band
s name is a tribute to Architects 2007 track, "North Lane." Fitipaldes later recounted their formation as a largely internet-driven collaboration, with Deiley and Milovic initiating contact to begin songwriting. The band
s current success showcases a journey of evolution and relentless creativity within the metalcore genre.
