Story of Make Them Suffer

From the fertile grounds of Perth, Australia, emerges Make Them Suffer, a formidable force in the modern extreme metal landscape since their formation in 2008. Currently signed to SharpTone Records, the band is renowned for their dynamic genre alchemy, masterfully fusing metalcore intensity with elements of blackened death metal, symphonic grandeur, and increasingly, intricate progressive metalcore.

Their seminal debut full-length, Neverbloom (2012), unleashed under Roadrunner Records, was a sonic onslaught. This album powerfully showcased their initial blend of raw metalcore aggression, chilling blackened death metal riffs, and dramatic symphonic flourishes, resonating strongly enough to peak at an impressive No. 56 on the prestigious ARIA Album Charts. The critically acclaimed follow-up, Old Souls (2015), marked a pivotal evolution, debuting at a robust No. 30 on the ARIA charts. This release saw Make Them Suffer beginning their compelling transition from their earlier death/black metal leanings towards a more refined and intricate progressive metalcore sound, characterized by complex arrangements and soaring melodies alongside crushing breakdowns.

Their label journey continued with a significant move to Rise Records, who in August 2016, re-issued an expanded edition of Old Souls. This definitive version included their influential, self-released 2010 debut EP, Lord of Woe, a foundational testament to their early brutality, and introduced the powerful new track, "Ether". A point of trivia for dedicated fans: despite its evocative nature, the band`s name is definitively not a homage to the Cannibal Corpse song of the same title.
