Alpha Wolf, hailing originally from Burnie, Tasmania, and now a dominant force in Melbourne, Victoria, stands as an acclaimed Australian metalcore band. Known for their crushing sound and uncompromising lyrical depth, the band quickly carved out a distinctive niche in the heavy music scene.

Founding bassist and original vocalist John Arnold revealed that the band`s evocative name, "Alpha Wolf," was inspired by the stark, primal themes of the movie The Grey.

Their powerful debut album, Mono, dropped in July 2017, making a significant impact by peaking impressively at number 29 on the ARIA Albums Chart.

Biography

2013–2016: Formation and Origin

Alpha Wolf officially formed in 2013, quickly making their presence felt in the burgeoning metalcore landscape. Their debut EP, Origin, was unleashed on June 9, 2014, showcasing their early aggressive sound. This initial offering was preceded by three impactful singles and a trove of early material—nearly an entire albums worth of songs that are now considered lost, hinting at the bands prolific creative drive from the outset.

2017–2018: Mono and Line-Up Change

July 2017 marked a pivotal moment with the release of their highly anticipated debut studio album, Mono. The albums title, a poignant abbreviation of "monochromatic," hints at its profound conceptual underpinnings. The term, meaning "involving or producing visual images in a single color or in varying tones of a single color," directly teases the albums stark lyrical content, which unflinchingly delves into weighty themes of trauma and depression.

However, the band faced a significant challenge on February 9, 2018, when lead vocalist Aidan Ellaz was ejected from the lineup amidst serious allegations of sexual assault, a story widely reported by MusicFeeds. Demonstrating resilience and a commitment to their future, Alpha Wolf announced a revitalized lineup in June 2018, welcoming Lochie Keogh as the new frontman and Mitch Fogarty into the fold, setting the stage for their next aggressive chapter.
