Story of Alter Bridge
Hailing from Orlando, Florida, Alter Bridge stands as a powerhouse in American hard rock and alternative metal, a formidable quartet forged in 2004 from the ashes of post-grunge titans Creed. The iconic lineup features the soaring vocals and dynamic rhythm guitar of Myles Kennedy, the intricate lead guitar mastery and distinctive songwriting of Mark Tremonti, the rock-solid bass lines of Brian Marshall, and the thunderous, precision drumming of Scott Phillips. When Creed entered an indefinite hiatus in 2003, Tremonti, Phillips, and Marshall embarked on a fresh sonic direction, enlisting the then-unknown vocal phenom Myles Kennedy. This new supergroup, Alter Bridge, was officially unveiled in January 2004, several months before Creed`s formal disbandment, signaling a bold new chapter in modern rock history.
Signing with Wind-up Records, Alter Bridge unleashed their highly anticipated debut album, One Day Remains, in August 2004. Largely spearheaded by Tremontis powerful riffcraft and songwriting, the record quickly resonated with fans, rocketing to an impressive No. 5 on the U.S. Billboard 200. Despite some polarizing initial reviews, *One Day Remains* achieved RIAA Gold certification by November 2004, a testament to its immediate impact. The band truly hit their stride with their critically acclaimed sophomore effort, *Blackbird*, released in 2007. This monumental album showcased a significant evolution in their sound, earning widespread praise for its more progressive leanings, dynamic songwriting, and unforgettable guitar solos. It also marked the genesis of their enduring partnership with revered producer Michael "Elvis" Baskette, who would become integral to their signature sound. *Blackbird* climbed to No. 13 in the U.S. and earned BPI Silver status, cementing Alter Bridges reputation for crafting powerful, melodic hard rock anthems.
Amidst the members` continued involvement with other acclaimed bands and various compelling side projects—highlighting their prolific creative drive—Alter Bridge returned in 2010 with the darker, more introspective AB III.
