2019

Formation and Early Writing

Thrown, a Swedish metalcore and hardcore band, was formed in 2019 in Stockholm. The band was initiated by vocalist Marcus Lundqvist and guitarist Andreas Malm who soon included producer and drummer Buster Odeholm along with guitarist Johan Liljeblad. Much of their early work and debut EP material was developed during the COVID-19 pandemic under remote collaboration conditions. This formation marked the beginning of their journey into the metalcore scene.
2022

Breakthrough with Extended Pain EP and Touring

In 2022, Thrown released their breakthrough EP titled 'Extended Pain' through the label Arising Empire. The EP dropped on April 8, 2022, following the release of the single 'New Low' in March of the same year. 'Extended Pain' gained significant attention with its intense nü-hardcore sound, amassing over 50 million streams on Spotify. By autumn, Thrown embarked on a European and UK tour supporting the band Counterparts, solidifying their presence and gaining a wider fanbase in the hardcore and metalcore communities.

Release of Debut Album EXCESSIVE GUILT and US Tours

In 2024, Thrown announced and released their debut album 'EXCESSIVE GUILT' on August 30. Prior to the album release, the single 'look at me' was released in May alongside the album announcement. Thrown (stylized in lowercase) are a Swedish metalcore/hardcore band from Stockholm, formed in 2019. Signed to Arising Empire, they exploded onto the scene with their 2022 EP, Extended Pain, which has amassed over 50 million Spotify streams. Their debut album, EXCESSIVE GUILT, dropped August 30th, 2024, packing eleven tracks into just over twenty minutes of blistering intensity. The album debuted at #3 on the Swedish Hard Rock Albums Chart, with Kerrang! praising its "suffocating brevity and nü-metalcore bite."

Vocalist Marcus Lundqvist and guitarist Andreas Malm began collaborating in 2019, quickly adding producer/drummer Buster Odeholm (Vildhjarta, Humanity`s Last Breath) and guitarist Johan Liljeblad to the lineup. Much of their debut EP was demoed remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic.
