SOiL

Hailing from the gritty rock mecca of Chicago, Illinois, the powerhouse alternative metal band SOiL (often stylized with a distinctive capitalization) blasted onto the scene in 1997. After carving out a reputation with impactful independent releases, SOiL made history as the very first rock act signed to J Records. This pivotal deal propelled them to mainstream stardom with their major label debut, the landmark album Scars, released in 2001. A definitive release for the era, Scars cemented their place in the burgeoning nu-metal and alternative metal landscape.

The band continued their sonic assault with the sophomore J Records release, Redefine, in 2004, which saw SOiL embark on extensive worldwide touring, solidifying their global fanbase. However, 2004 brought a seismic shift when charismatic frontman Ryan McCombs announced his departure. This pivotal moment in rock history saw McCombs famously step into the vocalist role for fellow heavy hitters Drowning Pool the following year.

Undeterred, SOiL forged ahead, recruiting ex-Diesel Machine vocalist A.J. Cavalier as their new singer. This new chapter saw the band release two more studio albums, True Self (2006) and Picture Perfect (2009), via independent labels. Throughout this period, SOiL demonstrated remarkable resilience, touring relentlessly across the globe and achieving significant independent success despite brief lineup changes until late 2011.

In a move celebrated by fans worldwide, SOiL reunited with original vocalist Ryan McCombs for a special tour commemorating the tenth anniversary of their iconic album, Scars. This highly anticipated reunion saw the classic lineup reborn. Today, the enduring core of SOiL features Ryan McCombs back on vocals, alongside founding members Tim King (bass) and Adam Zadel (guitar), who remain the only two members to have steadfastly anchored the band from its inception to the present day, ensuring SOiL`s legacy in alternative metal continues to thrive.
