Living Colour

Formed in New York City in 1984 by visionary guitarist Vernon Reid, Living Colour shattered conventional boundaries with their electrifying fusion of hard rock and funk rock. Fronted by the dynamic, soulful powerhouse Corey Glover, alongside drum maestro Will Calhoun and bassist Muzz Skillings, who was later succeeded by Doug Wimbish, the group emerged from the Black Rock Coalition—an initiative co-founded by Reid to dismantle the racial pigeonholing of Black artists in guitar-driven music. Living Colour proved their staying power with their critically acclaimed 1990 sophomore release, Time`s Up, which captured a second Grammy Award and broadened their sonic palette to include elements of dub, hip-hop, and thrash, all while delivering sharp lyrical critiques of racism, media manipulation, and social decay.
