Story of Kill The Robot
Stephen Gibb is a creative force who embodies a unique paradox: he has simultaneously everything and nothing left to prove. His remarkable career trajectory speaks volumes; few musicians can claim to have shared stages with iconic bands like Slayer and Anthrax, then a Bee Gee, all within a single 24-hour period. Now, after nearly three decades dedicated to his craft, Gibb is finally stepping into the spotlight with his new band, Kill The Robot, a project poised to unequivocally showcase his distinctive songwriting prowess.
Kill The Robot`s self-titled debut album, set for release on July 11th via Dark Lab Recordings, is an extraordinary sonic tapestry – both expansively eclectic and masterfully cohesive. Produced by multi-Grammy-winner Warren Riker (whose credits include Down, The Fugees, Lauryn Hill, and Santana), the album invites listeners on a dynamic journey. It navigates from the colossal stadium rock anthems reminiscent of Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, and Muse, through the intricate progressive soundscapes of Pink Floyd and Steven Wilson. Dark undertones à la Killing Joke are subtly woven in, before a potent infusion of 80s UK pop and electronica arrives, drawing parallels to artists like Thomas Dolby, Howard Jones, Tears For Fears, and even mid-career Adam Ant.
As a powerful first taste of the album, the band has unveiled their debut single, ‘Western Shores’. This track serves as a poignant and heartfelt tribute to their cherished friend, the late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins.
