Formed in the United States in 1972, DEVO is one of the most innovative and conceptually distinct bands to emerge from the American music landscape. Pioneering a subversive fusion of new wave, post-punk, punk rock, and experimental electronic music, the group built their identity around the satirical philosophy of de-evolution—the concept that humanity is regressing rather than progressing.
