Saurom

Formed in Spain on September 1, 1996, Saurom has established itself as one of the most distinctive and enduring forces in the realm of Spanish folk metal. Over decades of artistic evolution, the ensemble has crafted a vibrant sonic identity that effortlessly merges the anthemic, driving force of power metal with the rustic melodies of Celtic rock and traditional folk music. Often characterized by their self-styled juglar metal ethos—a modern reinterpretation of medieval minstrelsy—the group transforms heavy metal into an evocative, communal storytelling experience steeped in folklore, mythology, and literature.

The band`s formative years produced a prolific sequence of landmark records that laid the foundation for their enduring legacy. Their profile expanded rapidly following the release of El guardián de las melodías perdidas in 2001, which was followed in 2002 by Sombras del este, an ambitious concept album inspired by the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. Saurom continued to hone their rich narrative craft and symphonic arrangements through seminal mid-2000s releases, including Legado de juglares in 2004, the lushly arranged Sinfonías de los bosques in 2005, and JuglarMetal in 2006, an album that solidified their status as pioneers of Iberian folk rock and metal.

Renowned for their theatrical, festive live performances and a dynamic instrumentation that weaves flutes, bagpipes, and whistles with heavy guitar riffs, Saurom has maintained a steadfast relevance across international music scenes. Their catalog continues to attract a dedicated global audience, reflected in a steady digital presence and over 240,000 followers on Spotify. Through their unwavering dedication to both heavy metal intensity and ancient acoustic traditions, Saurom remains an essential pillar of contemporary Spanish rock music.
