1999

Formation of Theory of a Deadman

Theory of a Deadman was formed in 1999 in North Delta, British Columbia, Canada. The founding members were lead guitarist and vocalist Tyler Connolly and bassist Dean Back. 2001

Signing with 604 Records

In 2001, Theory of a Deadman became the first band to sign with 604 Records, a label created by Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger. This came after Tyler Connolly convinced Kroeger's ex-girlfriend, Jodi, to send Kroeger a copy of their demo recording. Kroeger saw potential in the band and invited Connolly to discuss a record deal. This signing was a pivotal moment that launched their professional music career with strong industry backing.
2002

Release of Self-Titled Debut Album

On September 17, 2002, Theory of a Deadman released their debut album titled 'Theory of a Deadman'. The album was co-produced by Chad Kroeger and featured the track originally called 'Theory of a Deadman', which was later renamed 'The Last Song'.
