1999-2001

Formation and early years of Simple Plan

Simple Plan was formed in Montreal, Quebec, in 1999 by drummer Chuck Comeau and guitarists Jeff Stinco and Sébastien Lefebvre, who were previously in separate bands. Vocalist Pierre Bouvier joined after leaving his former band Reset, and bassist David Desrosiers joined shortly after. The final lineup allowed members to focus on their specific roles. The band's name was chosen after considering other options, derived from the 1998 film 'A Simple Plan.' They began gaining experience performing locally and at festivals like Edgefest II in 2001.
2002-2005

Debut album and rising popularity

Simple Plan released their debut album 'No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls' in 2002, featuring hit singles like 'I'm Just a Kid' and 'Perfect,' establishing their pop-punk sound. Collaborations included Blink-182's Mark Hoppus and Good Charlotte's Joel Madden. The band's music gained exposure through MTV and was featured on shows such as 'Fraternity Life.' In 2002, they also performed the theme song for 'What's New, Scooby-Doo?'. 2004

In 2004, Simple Plan released their second studio album 'Still Not Getting Any...', which further solidified their presence in the pop-punk scene.
