Band Timeline

2002

Formation of Revelation Theory in Long Island, New York

Revelation Theory, later known as Rev Theory, formed in 2002 when initial members Rich Luzzi, Dave Agoglia, and Julien Jorgensen relocated to Long Island to pursue a music career. The trio had originally met in 1997 at Merrimack College in Massachusetts. In 2003, bassist Matty McCloskey joined, rounding out the band. This period marked the genesis of their collaboration, setting the foundation for their future work and defining their early sound in the rock genre.
2004–2005

Early recordings and debut album 'Truth Is Currency'

In 2004, the band recorded a demo EP which helped them gain initial exposure. They signed with Element Records, a subsidiary of EMI, and released their debut studio album 'Truth Is Currency' in 2005. The album included the single 'Slowburn,' which reached number 27 on the US Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. That year, they also toured extensively, including participation in the Girls Gone Wild Rocks America tour and tours with bands such as Sevendust and Hinder. This era established them in the rock music scene and began building their fan base.
2007–2008

Major label signing, name change, and breakthrough with 'Light It Up'

In 2007, the band signed a major label deal with Interscope Records and shortened their name to Rev Theory. They began writing their second album, 'Light It Up,' which released in 2008. This period marked their breakthrough, aided significantly by World Wrestling Entertainment's adoption of their music for pay-per-view events. The song 'Light It Up' was the official theme for WrestleMania XXIV, and 'Hell Yeah' became the theme for WWE's One Night Stand 2008. 'Hell Yeah' also featured in Madden NFL 09 and as a goal song for the NHL's Winnipeg Jets. The band gained notable exposure with their music video premiere on Xbox LIVE Video Store, the first of its kind. This era significantly expanded their audience and cultural presence.
2008–2009

Touring and media exposure

Rev Theory supported major acts on tour, opening for bands such as Hinder, Trapt, Buckcherry, Avenged Sevenfold, Papa Roach, Seether, and Breaking Benjamin. They participated in Crüe Fest 2 and toured with Lynyrd Skynyrd in late 2009. Their song 'Hell Yeah' was used in the TV show 'Blue Mountain State' aired on Spike, enhancing their visibility beyond just music fans. The track 'Voices,' performed by lead singer Rich Luzzi, was used as the entrance theme for WWE wrestler Randy Orton, further cementing the band's association with wrestling entertainment. Additionally, the band's single 'Light It Up' was released as downloadable content for Guitar Hero: World Tour, aligning them with video game culture.
2010–2012

Release and promotion of the album 'Justice'

In 2010, Rev Theory began writing their third studio album 'Justice,' which was released in February 2011 via Interscope Records. The album included singles like the title track 'Justice' and 'Hangman,' the latter serving as an official secondary theme for WWE’s SmackDown from 2009 to 2012. The album peaked at number five on the US Billboard Hard Rock Albums chart and number 75 on the Billboard 200. Promotion included extensive touring, headlining the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour and supporting Black Label Society and Five Finger Death Punch on major tours. Guitarist Julien Jorgensen left the tour in October 2011 due to an injury. This period saw the band solidify their presence in the rock circuit and maintain ties with wrestling entertainment.
2016

Release of 'The Revelation' album

Rev Theory released their fourth studio album, 'The Revelation,' on September 9, 2016, through Another Century Records. This album marked their first full-length studio release since 'Justice' in 2011. While detailed touring or promotional information surrounding this release is limited, 'The Revelation' helped to continue the band's evolution and maintain their relevance in the rock music scene. It represented a significant step as they continued to develop their sound and artistry nearly 15 years after their formation.
2023–2024

Updated single release and new album 'Salvation Nowhere'

In 2023, Rev Theory released an updated version of their song 'Voices,' originally used by WWE wrestler Randy Orton, first via Bandcamp and later on all platforms. In 2024, the band released their fifth studio album 'Salvation Nowhere,' continuing their decades-long career in rock music. Though specific details on reception or tour plans are not extensively covered, these releases indicate the band’s sustained activity and ongoing contribution to their genre well into the 2020s.
