2012

Formation of Dayseeker

Dayseeker was formed in 2012 in Orange County, California. The initial lineup included vocalist Rory Rodriguez, guitarists Alex Polk and Gino Sgambelluri, bassist Andrew Sharp, and drummer Mike Karle. Rory and Alex had previously played together in another band called Arms Like Yours. The band quickly developed a post-hardcore sound and began releasing demos that would later be included in their debut album.
2013

Debut Album 'What It Means to Be Defeated' Released

In 2013, Dayseeker was signed by InVogue Records and released their debut album 'What It Means to Be Defeated' on October 29. The album, featuring work mastered by Joey Sturgis, established the band's presence in the post-hardcore scene. They supported this release by touring across the United States alongside Kingdom of Giants. The album combined emotive lyrics with a balance of heavy and melodic instrumentation, gaining them a dedicated fan base.
2014

Re-release of Debut Album and Touring Activity

In 2014, the band reissued their debut album with three additional acoustic tracks, produced with help from Tom Denney, known for his work with A Day to Remember. They supported this re-release by participating in the Artery Across the Nation Tour with other bands including Upon This Dawning and The Browning. This year helped solidify their growing popularity and musical identity, bridging their early sound into their evolving style.
2015

Release of Second Album 'Origin' and Touring

Dayseeker began recording their second album in early 2015 with producer Nick Ingram. Released on April 21, 2015, 'Origin' marked the band's growth with refined songwriting and production quality. They toured to promote the album, sharing stages with Hawthorne Heights and Silent Planet. The band also released a cover of Nick Jonas' song 'Jealous', showcasing their versatility. 'Origin' helped to expand their audience and demonstrated their ability to mature musically from their debut.
2016

Lineup Changes and Signing with Spinefarm Records

In the spring of 2016, guitarists Alex Polk and bassist Andrew Sharp departed from the band. Shawn Yates joined as the new guitarist, bringing new energy to the group's dynamic. Later that year, Dayseeker left InVogue Records and signed with Spinefarm Records, signaling a new chapter in their career. This transition set the stage for a heavier, more polished sound and greater exposure in the alternative music market.
2017

Release of Third Album 'Dreaming Is Sinking /// Waking Is Rising'

On July 14, 2017, Dayseeker released their third studio album, 'Dreaming Is Sinking /// Waking Is Rising', through Spinefarm Records. The album showcased the band’s matured sound with deeper emotional themes and complex compositions. To promote the album, they embarked on a U.S. tour supporting Silent Planet along with Ghost Key and Hail the Sun. This release cemented Dayseeker as an influential force in the post-hardcore genre, receiving critical praise for its introspective lyrics and atmospheric elements.
2019

Release of Fourth Album 'Sleeptalk'

Dayseeker released their fourth studio album 'Sleeptalk' on September 27, 2019. The album further pushed their sonic boundaries, blending melodic and aggressive elements with introspective and vulnerable lyrics. 'Sleeptalk' was regarded as a significant artistic step forward. Prior to the album's second anniversary, a deluxe edition was released featuring stripped-down reimagined versions of select tracks, highlighting the band's versatility and emotional depth.
2021

Drummer Change and Deluxe Edition of 'Sleeptalk'

In fall 2021, Zac Mayfield, originally from the band Oh, Sleeper, temporarily replaced longtime drummer Mike Karle for upcoming tour engagements. Mike Karle would return to the band the following fall. Around the same time, the deluxe edition of 'Sleeptalk' was released with new arrangements of four key songs from the album, revisiting their work in a fresh, stripped-down style that resonated with fans and showcased the band's evolving musical expression.
2022

New Single and Album Progress 'Dark Sun'

March 25, 2022 saw the release of the single 'Neon Grave' as part of the band's ongoing work on their fifth studio album. Vocalist Rory Rodriguez shared that the new material was heavily influenced by personal experiences of loss and fatherhood, lending an emotional gravity to their music. This period marked a renewal of creative energy as Dayseeker channeled these themes into the construction of a deeply personal and mature album, further solidifying their identity.

Release of Sixth Studio Album 'Replica'

Story of Dayseeker

Dayseeker, the Orange County, California post-hardcore quintet, exploded onto the scene in 2012. Originally featuring vocalist Rory Rodriguez, guitarists Alex Polk and Gino Sgambelluri, bassist Andrew Sharp, and drummer Mike Karle (all veterans of the local scene, with Rodriguez and Polk previously in Arms Like Yours), the band quickly built momentum. Their early work, including demos like "What It Means to Be Defeated," "Collision.Survive," and "Resurrect," showcased their raw energy and emotional depth. This led to a record deal with InVogue Records, resulting in the release of their debut full-length, What It Means to Be Defeated, on October 29, 2013 (mastered by Joey Sturgis). A re-release followed on November 24, 2014. The band's lineup has since evolved, with current members Rodriguez, Sgambelluri, bassist Ramone Valerio, and drummer Zac Mayfield, solidifying their position as a major player in the post-hardcore landscape. Now signed to Spinefarm Records, they boast a prolific discography, releasing six studio albums, culminating with their latest effort, Replica, which dropped April 19, 2024.
