2004

Formation of Bring Me The Horizon

Bring Me The Horizon was formed in Sheffield, England in March 2004 by members Oli Sykes (vocals), Matt Nicholls (drums), Lee Malia (guitar), Curtis Ward (guitar), and Matt Kean (bass). The members were teenagers at the time, aged between 15 and 17, coming from diverse musical backgrounds including metalcore and thrash metal. The band's name was inspired by a line from the film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.
2004

Early Releases and First EP

Shortly after forming, Bring Me The Horizon recorded a demo album called 'Bedroom Sessions.' In September 2004, they released their first EP, 'This Is What the Edge of Your Seat Was Made For,' on the UK label Thirty Days of Night Records, making them the label's first signing. The EP, recorded in Nottingham over two weekends, showcased their early deathcore sound and garnered attention from UK label Visible Noise.
