2001

Formation and Early Recognition of Sodagreen

Sodagreen was formed in 2001 in Taiwan, with the name reflecting a combination of the word 'Soda' and 'green,' the latter being the favorite color of lead vocalist Wu Qingfeng. In May 2001, the band participated in the Golden Melody Cup held by National Chengchi University, earning the Best Popularity award with their composition 'Peeping.' This recognition marked their entrance into the Taiwanese indie music scene.
2003

Establishment of Current Lineup and Decision to Disband

By March 2003, Sodagreen solidified their current lineup with the inclusion of new members A-Fu, Jia-Kai, and A-Gong. Despite this formation, the band planned to disband upon graduation. They embarked on a final tour starting at the Hohaiyan Gongliau Rock Festival, where their performance garnered attention from indie producer Will Lin, setting the stage for their future professional endeavors.
2004

Winning the Grand Jury Award and Signing with Willlin Music

In August 2004, Sodagreen was awarded the Grand Jury Award at the Hohaiyan Gongliau Rock Festival, a significant achievement that helped elevate their status in the indie music scene. Following this, they signed a contract with Willlin Music, marking the start of their professional music career and enabling broader exposure and production support for their subsequent releases.
2005

Debut Album Release: sodagreen

In September 2005, Sodagreen released their self-titled debut album, 'sodagreen.' Prior to the album, they had released several singles and EPs which helped build an audience. 2006

Second Album: Little Universe and Notable Collaborations

October 2006 saw the release of Sodagreen's second album, 'Little Universe,' which furthered their musical evolution. In December, they released a collaborative single 'My Future Is Not a Dream' with A-pay, another band under their label. 2007

Golden Melody Awards Success and Historic Taipei Arena Concert

Sodagreen won the Best Band Award at the 18th Golden Melody Awards in June 2007, with lead vocalist Wu Tsing-Fong receiving the Best Melody award for the song 'Little Love Song.' Their album 'Little Universe' was also nominated for Best Album. In November, they released their third album, 'Incomparable Beauty,' and held the Absolutely Beautiful Concert at Taipei Arena, becoming the first indie band to stage a concert there. The concert was record-breaking for its length, lasting five hours, despite incurring a fine for running late.
2008

Live Album and Continued Awards Recognition

In May 2008, Sodagreen released 'Sing With Me,' a live album featuring performances from their Absolutely Beautiful Concert alongside three new studio tracks. The band also contributed the official Chinese theme song 'Lover Animal' for the film 'Juno.' That year, at the 19th Golden Melody Awards, the band won the Best Band Award for the second consecutive time, cementing their status as leading figures in Taiwan's music industry.
2009

Initiation of the Vivaldi Project

In 2009, Sodagreen embarked on an ambitious endeavor known as the Vivaldi Project, planning to record and release four concept albums representing the four seasons. 2020

Trademark Dispute and Temporary Name Change

In 2020, Sodagreen encountered a significant challenge when their former mentor and agent Lin Weizhe registered the 'Sodagreen' trademark first. This legal issue forced the band to adopt a new name, '魚丁糸' (Oaeen in English), derived from parts of the traditional Chinese characters of their original name. This period tested the band's identity and resilience amid complex industry and legal pressures.
2022

Reclaiming the 'Sodagreen' Name

On May 30, 2022, coinciding with the 18th anniversary of their debut, Lin Weizhe relinquished the 'Sodagreen' trademark rights. This allowed Wu Qingfeng and the other five band members to reclaim the use of their original band name, marking a restoration of their brand and legacy. This resolution was a pivotal moment affirming their identity and continuing influence in the Mandarin music world.
