2013

Formation of Boundaries

Boundaries, an American metalcore band, was formed in 2013 in Hartford, Connecticut. The formation was spearheaded by original guitarist Zadak Brooks, who assembled members from another local band that had recently disbanded. The new group emerged as a fresh musical endeavor following the dissolution of Brooks' prior cover band. This marked the beginning of Boundaries' journey in the metalcore music scene.
2014

Early Release and Vocalist Change

In 2014, Boundaries released their first single, "Two Faced," recorded with the original vocalist Jake Buzzell. During this period, Matthew McDougal also featured on the single and would later become the band's full-time lead vocalist. This transition in personnel was a pivotal early development, shaping the band's evolving sound and presence in the metalcore genre.
2017

Release of Hartford County Misery EP and Lineup Change

By spring 2017, Boundaries had released the EP "Hartford County Misery," which included the single "Sour Mouth" originally released in 2016. This release helped to further establish their sound within the metalcore scene. Concurrent with this period, the band saw a significant lineup change when bassist Lucian Armstrong was replaced by Brandon Breedlove, indicating evolving membership as the band continued to develop.
2019

Signing to Unbeaten Records and My Body in Bloom EP

In 2018, Boundaries signed with Unbeaten Records, a significant milestone that marked their entrance into the label-backed music industry. They recorded and released the EP "My Body in Bloom" on February 22, 2019. The EP featured singles such as "Blush" and the title track "My Body in Bloom." This release was notable for recruiting Nathan Calcagno initially as a touring bassist, who would officially join the band in 2022.
2020

Debut Full-Length Album Your Receding Warmth

On November 13, 2020, Boundaries released their first full-length album, "Your Receding Warmth." The album was promoted through three singles—"Carve," "Behind the Bend," and "I'd Rather Not Say"—each accompanied by music videos directed by Erick Easterday. The recording phase featured drummer Matthew Di Guglielmo and guitarist Junior Scarpa, though Di Guglielmo did not become an official band member. The album's rollout solidified Boundaries' presence in the metalcore genre with a more mature and expansive sound.
2022

Burying Brightness Album Release and Lineup Changes

In 2022, Boundaries released their second full-length album, "Burying Brightness," through 3DOT Recordings. This period was marked by significant lineup changes, most notably the departure of founder and guitarist Zadak Brooks, who was succeeded by Cody DelVecchio. The band promoted the album with singles such as "Heaven's Broken Heart," "Realize and Rebuild," and the title track "Burying Brightness," demonstrating their continued evolution and resilience.
2024

Upcoming Album Death Is Little More

On February 8, 2024, Boundaries released the lead single "Easily Erased" to promote their upcoming album "Death Is Little More," scheduled for release on March 29, 2024, through 3DOT Recordings. The album's promotional campaign included additional singles like "A Pale Light Lingers" and "Scars On A Soul," signaling the band's ongoing creative output and their sustained relevance in the metalcore music landscape.

Story of Boundaries

Hailing from Hartford, Connecticut, Boundaries exploded onto the metalcore scene as a force to be reckoned with. The band's current lineup is a powerhouse featuring Matthew McDougal on ferocious vocals, guitarists Cory Emond and Cody DelVecchio laying down crushing riffs, Tim Sullivan on drums and backing vocals, and bassist/vocalist Nathan Calcagno holding down the low end.

Early Days (2013-2016): Boundaries formed in 2013, the brainchild of guitarist Zadak Brooks. Drawing members from a recently dissolved local band (and following the demise of his own cover band), Brooks forged a new path. Their debut single, "Two Faced," dropped in 2014, showcasing original vocalist Jake Buzzell alongside Matthew McDougal, who would soon become the band's permanent frontman. This period saw a flurry of singles featuring McDougal, several of which would later be included on their 2018 Spring Demonstration EP.

Hartford County Misery (2017-2018): The band unleashed Hartford County Misery in Spring 2017, which included the previously released 2016 single, "Sour Mouth." This era also saw a lineup change, with bassist Lucian Armstrong being replaced by Brandon Breedlove.

My Body in Bloom & Beyond (2018-Present): 2018 marked a significant turning point. Boundaries signed to Unbeaten Records, setting the stage for their label debut. My Body in Bloom, released February 22nd, 2019, solidified their place in the metalcore world. The EP, tracked throughout 2018 and 2019, was preceded by the singles "Blush" and the title track, generating considerable buzz. The band continues to evolve and dominate the scene.
